NNFCC Limited Rebrands to Alder BioInsights, reinforcing its commitment to advancing the bioeconomy

Leading bioeconomy consultancy NNFCC Limited is proud to announce its rebranding to Alder BioInsights as its revised trading name. While NNFCC remains the registered company name, the new brand identity represents an important change that prepares the organisation for continued growth and leadership in the bioeconomy sector.

Based at York University’s Science Park and founded in 2003 by the UK Government as the National Non-Food Crops Centre, the organisation has become a trusted advisor to businesses, governments, and organisations navigating the complex and challenging bioeconomy landscape.

The company initially focussed on the rural economy and industrial crop applications. This focus widened over time to develop extensive expertise in anaerobic digestion, bioenergy, biofuels, and biobased products. They have built a strong reputation for providing clients with a strategic view of feedstocks, technology, policy and market development across the bioeconomy, enabling them to make informed business decisions and develop sustainable business strategies.

Lucy Hopwood, Business Development Director, explained:

“While NNFCC is a recognised name in the UK bioeconomy sector, its historic reference to crop-based feedstock doesn’t represent the breadth of our activity, which covers all biological feedstocks from food and livestock waste, to crops and forestry. To avoid any confusion, we’ve decided to update the name—but the people, the focus, and the integrity remain the same.”

The transition to Alder BioInsights reflects the company’s continued commitment to leadership in the evolving bioeconomy sector. The new name draws inspiration from the Alder tree, known for its resilience and ability to thrive in challenging environments. The Alder symbolises adaptability, balance, and a deep-rooted dedication to environmental stewardship.

With its new brand identity, Alder BioInsights will continue to offer strategic expert consultancy, market analysis and policy advisory services. The company remains deeply committed to the bioenergy and biofuels markets, as well as the growing biobased products sector, alongside feedstocks from agriculture, forestry and industrial wastes.
