Take a closer look at some of the latest developments across the bioenergy sector in this weeks News & Insights release.
In Czechia, 11 projects have secured support in the country’s first biomethane operating support auction, highlighting growing policy backing for domestic renewable gas production. Ireland has also reached an important infrastructure milestone, connecting its first biomethane plant directly to the national gas network and demonstrating how existing gas infrastructure can support the transition to renewable gases. In Brazil, new analysis points to significant untapped biogas potential within the sugar industry, while a major orange juice waste-to-biogas project is nearing completion, underlining the scale of agricultural and food-processing residues available as feedstocks.
Meanwhile, carbon management is increasingly moving towards commercial deployment, with Yara inaugurating Europe’s largest carbon capture facility in the Netherlands. Together, these developments point to a broader shift from developing individual technologies towards building the infrastructure, policy frameworks and feedstock supply chains needed to scale low-carbon gas and carbon removal.

Green Gas Day 2026
We’re delighted to be a sponsor of Green Gas Day 2026 in Birmingham, taking place on 8th October 2026.
Green Gas Day provides a valuable opportunity to bring together people working across biomethane and the wider renewable gas industry. A core theme of this year’s conference will be the Government’s anticipated Future Support Framework for Biomethane consultation. There will also be strategic insights from the Green Gas Taskforce with coverage of the most recent reports including hybrid heat pumps systems with biomethane, digestate management in an expanded biomethane sector and e-methane.

The Future of Biogas Summit 2026
The Future of Biogas Europe 2026 Summit is set to take place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on 25th – 26th November 2026, bringing together senior decision makers, industry leaders and key stakeholders from across the European biogas, biomethane and renewable gas value chain. The summit will provide a dedicated platform to explore the next phase of biogas growth, project development, policy direction, infrastructure integration and commercial opportunities across the sector.
Alder BioInsights Director Lucy Hopwood is a confirmed speaker for day two of the event. Lucy will be leading the conference session Delivering Europe’s Biomethane Scale-Up – What Must Happen by 2030. She will be defining the critical actions required to meet 2030 targets, aligning policy, capital and infrastructure timelines, identifying execution risks that could delay deployment ad clarifying responsibilities across the value chain.

“Crops, including cereal crops, oilseed crops, perennial grasses and short rotation coppice, which are grown for the purpose of being used as biomass for the production of bioenergy (i.e. via anaerobic digestion, biomass combustion, or for production of biofuels).”
