BioBase4SME - Project Completed
Please note that this project is no longer accepting applications.
BioBase4SME offers innovation support under the form of up to € 100,000 vouchers to be spent on innovation support services. Professional training and innovation bootcamps are also part of the offer. They will be organised in different European regions to strengthen the regional support available to entrepreneurs. These activities are all aimed at supporting the commercialisation of innovation by SMEs.
BioBase4SME is aimed at SMEs in North West Europe requiring resources, financial and/or technical help to scale up a technology and/or process and wanting to develop or improve a strong business strategy. Through the provision of innovation support services as well as training opportunities, it intends to address both technological and non-technological barriers preventing the commercialisation of innovation in North West Europe.

Seven experts of the bio-based economy have come together to offer professional training, innovation bootcamps and professional business services:
- Scale-up and proof-of-concept,
- Feedstocks and application testing
- Market research,
- Life cycle assessment,
- Business plan review and creation
- Social acceptance

Eligibility and application process
There is no preference for certain domains or application fields, as long as the process is bio-based. Bio-based is defined as (i) either the raw material is of biological origin, or (ii) industrial biotechnology (fermentation or biocatalysis) is used in the process. The technology being commercialised needs to have reached a TRL of four. All information shared during the application process and the project duration will be treated confidentially.
We invite you to discuss your idea with your country’s bio-agent representative. The list can be found here: https://vb.nweurope.eu/projects/project-search/bio-innovation-support-for-entrepreneurs-throughout-nwe-regions/#tab-4https://www.nweurope.eu/BioBase4SME
