Press release – Alder Bioinsights reports more significant market movements with a clear ambition to strengthen the sector and boost biomethane growth.
ADBA Scottish Conference, 23rd May 2024 – Alder Bioinsights, the Bioeconomy Consultants, launched their annual ‘Anaerobic Digestion Deployment in the UK Report’ for 2024.
The last 12 months have been busy in the AD space; inevitably periods of change and instability bring risks and uncertainty for investors, developers and operators alike, and so new market activity has been somewhat limited. However, there has been a lot of market movement over the same period, with sites looking to consolidate or grow, to strengthen positioning, to reduce costs and improve performance and profitability.
The Green Gas Support Scheme (GGSS) Mid-Scheme Review helpfully confirmed an extension of the Scheme, which is hoped will allow better alignment with the Simpler Recycling reforms, delivering more feedstock to AD facilities and supporting an increased capacity. Alongside this, the recent call for evidence on the Future Policy Framework provided a positive indication that significant future growth is necessary, and a more flexible market-led framework is expected, to support growth at an accelerated pace post-GGSS.
Alder Bioinsights’ AD Deployment in the UK report is a valuable tool for investors, developers and suppliers with an interest in the industry. It is available for purchase and purchasers will receive a PDF copy of the report containing the latest market commentary and a comprehensive database of all operational and planned AD facilities in the UK, including detail on location, status, commissioning date, energy output capacity and feedstock treatment capacity, by type.
Lucy Hopwood, Business Development Director and Lead Consultant for Bioenergy & Anaerobic Digestion at Alder Bioinsights says:
“Collectively, these [anticipated policy] actions provide much needed confidence and indicate to the industry that biomethane is here to stay and that growth must continue, at a significantly faster pace than in recent years to meet our future energy needs.”
