Kon Drousiotis
Foreword brief
This month’s foreword highlights significant initiatives by UK companies to reduce carbon emissions through biofuels across fleets, industries, and motorsport, demonstrating their commitment to increasing low-carbon fuel accessibility. Certas Energy has notably expanded Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) availability by adding approximately one million litres of capacity across 28 depots and investing £1.2 million in a new fuel bunker in Warrington, bolstering supply for hard-to-decarbonise sectors. Further north, Greenergy has secured an agreement to increase its capacity at the Exolum terminal in Grangemouth to enhance supply across Scotland. Concurrently, Argent Energy has opened a new blending and distribution centre covering extensive areas of England, facilitating easier access to high-blend biodiesel (up to B30) for various transport sectors.
