Alder BioInsights is regularly involved in building bespoke GHG calculators to comply with RTFO, SAF Mandate, ISCC EU and EU RED requirements. We have been doing this for a number of years and have supported operational plants with regulatory GHG reporting. This includes over a decade of support on ISCC EU GHG certification for a major biomethanol producer, and several years support to a crop-fed world-scale bioethanol producer. We have also supported project developers to calculate GHG footprints for a range of advanced fuel developments including:

• Tyre pyrolysis to RCF and biofuel SAF production
• Biomethane to SAF production
• Biomass pyrolysis to SAF production
• Hydrogen production via dark fermentation
• Residual waste to BioDME and RCF DME
• Waste gasification to Hydrogen with CCS
• Sugar waste stream to advanced ethanol
• Biomethane for transport applications

Alder BioInsights has previously been engaged to provide advisory support to the UK Department for Transport (DfT) including review of GHG approaches provided by biofuel development projects. Similarly, we have provided DfT with strategic support over questions related to development of GHG guidance for advanced biofuels pathways and recycled carbon fuel pathways and on the operation of different GHG schemes for sustainable aviation fuels.
